Our philosophy

HISTORY IS ALIVE

Wine has always been part of Esterhazy: the first references to viticulture date back to the year 1652, and our earliest cellar records stem from 1758 – which is why the number also features on our logo.

In recent years, we have turned many screws to realise our vision of authentic Leithaberg wines. For example, we have been cultivating our vineyards organically since 2019 and with the 2023 vintage we will be producing 100 per cent certified organic wines. We use soft pruning to maintain the best possible sap flow in the vines and work with valuable organic compost. We are also looking forward to harvesting the first grapes from the newly planted "Pirichen" vineyard near Oslip soon - its potential is very promising! Wood from our own forests is increasingly being used in the cellar and we are happy to try out alternative containers and ageing methods for our "project wines". Only grapes from our own vineyards are processed. We do all this so that our wines gain expression: they should taste fresh and fruity, be full-bodied but not ponderous and combine excitement with drinking pleasure as an accompaniment at the table or solo. And although we were not all born here, the region in which we live and work is the unifying element. This origin, our "Leithaberg DAC", is just as dynamic as we are.

The vision we foster for our region and for our oft-mentioned “terroir”, cannot be realised without the involvement of passionate people. We have also taken several steps in this regard in the past few years – we added a number of committed employees to our team, opening the way to a successful future. Our Sales Manager Frank Schindler, our South African Cellar Master Robert Krammer as well as Director Wolfgang Hewarth are all on the same page when it comes to farming our vineyards sustainably, as well as questioning and redefining traditions and wine styles. We are proud of our history, but we still have so many plans! We would be delighted if you accompanied us for part of the journey!

Einzigartige Weine entstehen ausschließlich in einem großartigen Team.
